About

I am an Italian lens-based artist living in Derry, Northern Ireland. My work is informed by the shifting meaning of the expression ‘taking photographs’ in an image-saturated world and my practice stems from a background in photojournalism and documentation. I experiment with diverse research and production methodologies, based on archival investigation paired with fieldwork research, focusing on exploring forgotten histories that slip through the fabric of history. Recently my practice has veered towards a more introspective approach, linking the personal to the collective and investigating personal accounts of alienation and displacement through history. My practice is rooted in the local arts ecosystem, this led me in 2016 to found Art Arcadia with the purpose of fostering and sustaining the local arts community. Through Art Arcadia I organise bespoke local and international artist residencies with associated exhibitions and public programmes firmly rooted in the local geographical and socio-cultural context.
